What Does It Mean When Someone Is Sharked?
Hello again! Okay to make the trip back down the other side? Well ... Road car!
Leaving the hotel and get to the roundabout, go towards Poitiers. A 2 km. before reaching Poitiers panels find direction, follow the pointer to Limoges, the national road 147. Enjoy this road because it seems to be going through "the garden of Eden." The vegetation is very lush and has the feeling of being inside a forest that will never end. We arrived in Limoges and headed for the highway A-20, direction Toulouse. When you reach Exit 54, take the road Rocamadour 140 national address. At Exit 54 is the medieval town of Martel (the "city of the 7 towers). If you have a little time, well worth a visit. With half an hour you can admire a beautiful place that will transport you to ancient times.
went into Rocamadour. It is a small village that is less than 900 inhabitants, located in the "Dark Valley", in Alzou river gorges. Beautifully arranged atop a large boulder over 150 m. high, there is a castle, tower and bell, offering a breathtaking view of the river valley Alzou. Already in the sixth century was worshiped a virgin black in Parish Santa Maria, whose miracles are recounted from the beginning of the century. The discovery near a humble chapel in the year 1166, miraculously preserved body of a hermit who gave the name of Amadour (Amador of the Rock) gave a great boost to the journey leading to the building, on one side of the cliff of 7 churches and a monastery. At the foot of abajoa the sanctuary, the people began to form. You enter through the Gate of St-Martial and has a single street. A left and right you can see ancient fortifications, gates of old houses, churches and several hotels. A long stairway of 216 steps leads you to the temple of Notre-Dame, the religious city center.
There is an old poem that describes better than anyone else this amazing place: "The houses on the river, the churches on the houses, rocks on the churches and the castle on the rock ..." The imposing cliff lets you amazed as the city suspended between earth and sky offers visitors a stunning image, overwhelming. From the viewpoint you can make very good pictures. Rocamadour and shrines can be seen illuminated at night, from the Sunday before Easter until mid-November. To visit the whole can go there by car, with a tiny train or on foot. As you go, Rocamadour is a place that can not be explained ... We must live! Leaving
Rocamadour and we will send, by the highway that crosses dense forests and breathtaking valleys, to Cahors. Before entering the city there is an area where you can Find yourself a great selection of hotels. However, it is always best to contact the Hotel a few days prior to booking. In this way, quieter ride.
The Gallo-Roman town of Cahors is situated in a bend of the river Lot. This city has a special charm, reminiscent of Florence, keeping intact the footprints of its rich past. All the medieval part of town is a maze of narrow streets and old mansions and buildings, almost all very well preserved, that transport you to a time far away in time. The gardens in the midst of medieval buildings make stroll through its streets is a unique experienc ia .
have to visit the cathedral of Saint-Etienne, the Gallo-Roman baths, and above all, do not miss the Pont Valentré. This medieval bridge with three fortified towers and six arcs with sharp edges, is the only fortified bridge to be built
erva in France. Strolling along the promenade that borders the river is very nice as it gives the feeling of being in the countryside, in nature listening to the murmur of water and breathing fresh air. Most do not realize that, indeed, are a prosperous and beautiful city. The weather, sunny and mild, help you feel "at home." Near the river you can find, almost always, a place to park the car.
If you are a lover of good wine, Cahors and the region has the oldest vineyards of France and its wines with denomination of origin, have been prized since ancient times. It is said that the Russian czars Cahors drank wine on special occasions.
This is the last leg of the trip. It is high time to return home. We came to Toulouse and from there to our destination, just follow the directions of the panels: Barcelone.
